Taihokan is a European‐style building located about 1.5 km southwest of JR Tsuruoka station.
It is in Tsuruoka Park and the location is near the southern moat of former Tsurugaoka Castle.

White walls and red roof are the feature of this building.

The building was built to commemorate the enthronement of the Emperor Taisho in 1915.

First, this building was used as the products display center.
After World War II, it was used as the city library.

Now, it is used as the museum introducing many artists, scholars and statesmen from Tsuruoka.

By route bus, about 10 minutes from JR Tsuruoka station.
