Wakamiya Hachimansha [若宮八幡社]
Wakamiya Hachimansha is a Shinto shrine.
It is located on the north side of Osu district, and is located about 1 km southwest of Sakae district which is the central downtown of Nagoya city.
There is Nagoya Touken Museum next to this shrine.
According to the shrine's biography, the shrine was founded around the 700s in the place near current Nagoya Castle.
In 1610, Tokugawa Ieyasu who united Japan and established Japanese feudal government headed by a shogun built Nagoya Castle, so he moved the shrine to current place.
This shrine became the guardian god of Tokugawa family and also became the guardian deity of Nagoya city.

There is the main shrine in the center of the precincts.
The emperors in the Japanese myth are enshrined.
The original building was built in 1664, but it was destroyed by US air raids in 1945.
The current building was rebuilt in 1957.
Some small shrines are dotted in the the precincts.
Especially, Renri-Inari shrine is attractive by the tunnel of red Torii gates.
Wakamiya Hachimansha is believed that you will receive various blessing.
And, it is also famous for a god of marriage.

The nearest stations of subway are Osu-Kannon (●T08 Tsurumai Line), Yabacho (●M04 Meijo Line).
