Nagoya Touken World [名古屋刀剣ワールド]

Nagoya Touken World is one of the largest museum of Japanese sword.
It is also called as Nagoya Touken Museum (名古屋刀剣博物館).
And it is also translated as Nagoya Samurai Museum.

The museum is in the lower part of the building of high-rise condominium named "Sakae Tower Hills".
It is located on the north side of Osu district, and is located about 1 km southwest of Sakae district which is the central downtown of Nagoya city.

The museum was opened by the company which built the building in 2024.

The founder of the company had been a collector of many Japanese swords and the company has also collected many works of Japanese art.
This museum was founded for exhibiting them.

The first floor is the entrance and the main exhibithion places are from the second to the fourth floors.

About 500 Japanese swords are stored, and a national treasure and about 60 national important cultural properties and art objects are included.
Many of them were made from the 13th to the 19th centuries, and were possessed by major samurai families.

About 200 swords of them are in permanent exhibition.

In addition, many armors are exhibited.

Japanese armors were worn during battle.
After the nation was unified in the beginning of the 17th century and battles disappeared, the armors became the decorarion of samurai family.
So, many of them are gorgeous.

And, the weapons such as guns, bows and harnesses are also exhibited.

How to get here

The nearest stations of subway are Osu-Kannon (T08 Tsurumai Line), Yabacho (M04 Meijo Line).
About 600 meters walk from there.
